Meenakshi Das
DirectorMontessori education is distinctive in its own way as it follows the approach of recognizing and respecting individuality of a child and his/her learning as whole. And here it is measured that cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual need is indissoluble. We believe “learning is a process and not a product.” I have been working with children for last 20 years, from preschool to 5 years in many preschool and private Montessori schools. Finally I decided to fulfill my dream and I opened my home-based childcare in 2008. Buds & Blossoms is my dream that came true. The beauty of the Montessori classroom is that it is comprised of a mixed age-group of children. As a Montessori educator my role is to prepare the environment where I initiate and engage the child to each activity from simple to complex, so the child can move forward gaining knowledge based on individual pace and interest from concrete to abstract. In the Montessori environment the materials serve the purpose and challenges of different levels of learning and it has built in “control of error”. Children may choose activities freely and so the success of learning is amazing. Children are compliant and learn to work independently as well as in group. Children also learn with freedom of choices that promote decision-making skills and lead to high self-esteem. I am AMS certified and registered as a childcare provider by Maryland State in Howard County. Being an active member of Healthy Howard, we strictly follow nutrition guidelines and we provide healthy snacks, fresh fruit, only fresh-squeezed orange juice and are a nut-free environment.

Questions and Answers
Montessori: The Whole Child Approach
A primary goal of Montessori education is to help each child reach his or her full potential in all areas of life. The child’s emotional, social, spiritual, physical, and cognitive needs and interests are considered to be inseparable and of equal importance. The child is seen as naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment, with the guidance of a specially educated teacher.
Parent Techer Conferences
At our child’s Montessori school, there are both fall and spring parent-teacher conferences. The fall sets a baseline of where your child is, while the spring provides insight on the progress your child has made.
Educational Field Trips
Montessori education is very much about letting children experience the wonders of the world we live in. That’s why all of our children participate in a series of carefully organized field trips.
Yoga, Spanish, and Gym Classes
Extra curricular activities stimulate the growing mind. Children are encouraged to participate in these types of activities to expand fine and large motor skills as well as to work in a group/team environment.
